The Onale Seventh-day Adventist Church: A Journey of Hope and Restoration
Twenty years ago, the Seventh-day Adventist Church began in Onale, Ibaji, Kogi State, following a successful evangelistic campaign. By God's grace, more than 30 souls were baptized, and a church was established for the newly converted members. A pastor was also assigned to nurture their spiritual growth.

However, after a few years, the church building collapsed due to structural issues, and the members, facing financial constraints, were unable to rebuild. Soon after, their assigned pastor was transferred, leaving the district pastor to oversee the church along with others in his district. With no permanent place of worship, the members resorted to meeting in a classroom. Over time, due to the lack of close pastoral care, the church scattered and eventually became inactive.
For many years, the Onale church remained lifeless. But God had a plan.
As part of WAD Impact 2025, the Western Nigeria Union Conference organized an evangelistic outreach in Onale to revive the church. During this effort, seven former members were reclaimed, and 14 new souls were baptized. Several others have also started attending and are preparing for baptism. The community was overjoyed to see the Seventh-day Adventist Church re-established in their midst. One of the returning members testified that they longed for a church that would teach the truth without placing financial burdens on them, as their previous church had done. Many were thrilled to learn about the Sabbath truth and eagerly embraced it.

To the glory of God, the four plots of land originally given to the church are still available, though the collapsed building remains on the site. The Western Nigeria Union Conference has already begun initial work on the land to prepare for a proper church building. However, for WAD Impact to truly take root in Onale, it is crucial to construct a permanent place of worship so that the new members do not scatter again.
We humbly seek the support of the Division to help provide a worship center for our new converts. This church will serve as a beacon of truth and a stronghold of faith for the people of Onale and surrounding communities.
May God continue to bless the work of the Division as we labor together to expand His kingdom.
