Cabo Verde : The Adventist Church in Cabo Verde Welcomes 50 Volunteers from Switzerland

On July 3rd, 2024, the Adventist Church in Cabo Verde welcomed 50 volunteers for a two-week mission on the island of Santiago.
The arrival of these young people in the archipelago, under the slogan "I Will Go Cabo Verde," is the outcome of the first visit of the Cabo Verde Conference president, pastor Natalino Martins, to Switzerland, specifically to the Lusophone Adventist Church in Geneva, in 2023.
These young people from several countries, namely France, Switzerland, Argentina, Belarus, and Portugal, are all residing in Switzerland.
During their stay, they shall work on four interesting projects: health fairs, Christian vacation school, construction work including painting, and public evangelism sessions.
The young missionaries are under the supervision of pastor Andrey Ostrovsky, from Belarus, serving in the Lusophone and Hispanic churches in Geneva, pastor Eurico Correia Lopes, from Cabo Verde, pastor, (Prof.) of systematic theology at the Adventist University of Collonges-Sous-Salève, and new dean, president of the European Portuguese Language Council (CELP), a ministry that supports Lusophone churches in Europe, and also by young chaplain Gabriel Melo, born in Brazil, serving as a volunteer chaplain in Cabo Verde.

With great curiosity, our missionary volunteers are learning the Creole of the archipelago and are eager to announce the Good News. Upon their arrival, they went down the neighborhood streets to distribute flyers about the health fair.
It is worth noting that the Adventist kindergarten in Palmarejo, on the island of Santiago, is called Jardin Fleurs de la Suisse, due to the commitment and support of our Swiss brethren in its construction.
